On the 13th,

Yes, finally it’s here. This is the day, we have been planning for so many weeks. We woke up early in the morning and started completing the daily chores like cleaning the house, packing the luggage, and cooking the food for the day and for the travel. We had a flight at 8:00 in the evening so we started our journey around 3:00pm from our home. We took a train from Halmstad to Copenhagen Airport. It took around 3:30 hrs to complete the journey. Since the Copenhagen airport is near to our home, we prefer our international flights from this airport.

We reached Vienna by 11:00 at night

Our stay was already booked at a hotel nearby to the airport since it is already late, we walked towards the hotel. Because it was already night so we checked in the hotel and slept.

Tip -In Austria, you need to pay city tax, when you stay in Hotel or Airbnb. Which is additional to your room charges. It’s not much, but yeah it’s there.

Next day, On the 14th,

When we woke up in the morning, we had clouds greeting us. Not the weather we were anticipating. It was a bit drizzling and dark. But we had a mission at hand, non the less we decided to still go out and explore as much as possible. we got ready and went for the breakfast buffet. The buffet was really worth it.
We had our breakfast. It was a rainy day so my husband decided to go and pick up the car from the city center. By the time I did some research about places to visit in Vienna. Since we had half day in Vienna so we thought, we can visit a few places in Vienna. Public transportation is good here but we wanna go to the countryside and we wanted to cover as many places as possible so we rented a car.

Few Tips to Rent a Car in Europe:

  • There are plenty of good options to rent a car in Europe. We rented a car from Sixt.
  • The rent cost can vary from pickup and drop location, car size, engine, etc.
  • When you rent a car, make sure you pick at the scheduled pickup time, if you miss the pickup time you may need to pay some extra money to get a new vehicle if the booked vehicle is taken by some other person.
  • Rented car needs to be returned in the same condition and with the same fuel level as it was received otherwise owner can put a penalty charge on you.
  • We booked the car for 4 days, the pickup location was Vienna and the drop location was Salzburg. You can choose different locations to pick up and drop off the car.
  • Please make sure that the driving insurance and license should be there with you otherwise you are not allowed to collect the car and check the car insurance from the company.
